Senior Accountant

Position: Senior Accountant 

Location: Bonnyville, Alberta

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparation of audit, review and compilation engagements, including preparation of adjusting journal entries and financial statements
  • Preparation of corporation income tax returns and other government returns as required, including GST, payroll and WCB
  • Preparation of personal income tax returns
  • Preparation of, and assistance to clients with, bookkeeping and other financial areas as required
  • Provision of consultation services to clients

 

Qualifications:

  • Professional accounting designation (CA, CGA, CMA, CPA) required
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines with adaptability to changing priorities
  • Ability to make decisions and problem solve independently within the scope of the position
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
  • Available to work overtime during peak seasons
  • Experience with any of Caseware, TaxPrep, Doc-it, Sage 50 (Simply Accounting), Quickbooks, Quickbooks Online and/or Microsoft Office is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of relevant accounting frameworks and standards

 

Experience:

  • Minimum 4 years Canadian public practice experience required
  • Experience in audit an asset

Senior Bookkeeper

Position: Senior Bookkeeper 

Location: Bonnyville, Alberta

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provision of controllership-type services to various clients, including preparation and generation of periodic management reporting packages
  • Evaluation of client record keeping and internal control processes and assisting in the implementation of required system changes
  • Responsibility for financial record-keeping for various clients, including processing of payables, receivables and payroll and recording of general journal entries as required
  • Preparation of GST and other tax returns as required
  • Completion of bank and other account reconciliations
  • Provision of bookkeeping and software support services to clients
  • Completion of other accounting related duties as required

 

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years full cycle accounting experience in Canada
  • Good understanding of accounting principles and basic accounting skills
  • Working knowledge of cloud accounting software such as Quickbooks Online as well as an interest in technology and innovation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, professional manner and ability to work both independently and in a team environment
